Measures and activities under the competence of the Department for Health Promotion and Monitoring of Diseases

  1. plans, coordinates, implements and evaluates activities for health promotion and diseases prevention,
  2. monitors the health status of the population, the system, the organization and financing of health care,
  3. participates in preparation and implementation of special programs from health activity,
  4. proposes measures to address the health needs of the population,
  5. determines priorities to meet the needs and improve the health status of the population,
  6. provides professional expertise for creation of evidence-based public health policy,
  7. participates in preparation of national laws in the field of health, national and international strategies, action plans, standards and norms, public health preventive programs as well as national and international indicators for monitoring and evaluation of the health condition and health care of vulnerable groups of the population,
  8. carries out publishing activity by issuing publications and health-educational materials (brochures, posters, leaflets etc.),
  9. implements/conducts scientific research projects in the field of health, 16
  10. cooperates with national and international institutions from the country and abroad,
  11. conducts teaching and educational activities in the field of social medicine and public health,
  12. provides expert-methodological assistance to health organizations in the field of social medicine, health education and economics in health.
